What you should not carry on an Air Seychelles flight

Some items may not necessarily be treated in the same manner by other airlines or at certain airports. We accept no responsibility if certain airports/airlines do not allow carriage of one or more of these items.

For safety reasons, dangerous articles such as those listed below, must not be carried at any time:

Dangerous Items

Compressed gases (Deeply refrigerated, flammable, non-flammable and poisonous) such as butane, oxygen, liquid nitrogen and aqualung cylinders.

Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet-cell batteries.

Explosives, munitions, fireworks and flares.

Flammable liquids and solids such as lighter fuel, matches, paints, thinners and fire-lighters.

Radioactive materials.

Brief-cases and attaché cases with installed alarm devices.

Oxidising materials such as bleaching powder and peroxides.

Poisons and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed-killers and live virus materials.

Small vehicles such as Segways, Airwheels, Solowheels and hoverboards. - contains lithium batteries

Prohibited items for passenger and cabin luggage

Guns, Firearms & Weapons

Any object capable, or appearing capable, of discharging a projectile or causing injury, including:

  • All firearms (Pistols, Revolvers, Rifles, Shotguns etc)
  • Replica and imitation firearms
  • Component parts of firearms, (excluding telescopic sighting devices & sights)
  • Air pistols, rifles and pellet guns
  • Signal flare pistols Starter pistols
  • Toy guns of all types
  • Ball Bearing Guns
  • Industrial Bolt and Nail Guns
  • Cross bows
  • Bows
  • Catapults Harpoon & Spear Guns
  • Animal Humane Killers
  • Stun or shocking devices e.g. cattle prods, ballistic conducted energy weapons (laser)
  • Lighters shaped like a firearm.
Pointed/edged Weapons & Sharp Objects

Pointed or bladed articles capable of causing injury (material arts equipment with a sharp point or sharp edge), including:

  • Axes & hatchets
  • Arrows & darts Crampons
  • Harpoons & spears
  • Ice axes & ice picks
  • Ice skates
  • Lockable or flick knives with blades of any length
  • Knives, including ceremonial knives, made of metal or any other material strong enough to be used as a potential weapon.
  • Meat cleavers Machetes Open razors and blades (excluding safety or disposable razors with blades enclosed in cartridge)
  • Sabres, Swords & swordsticks
  • Scalpels Scissors with blades.
  • Ski and Walking/Hiking poles
  • Throwing stars
  • Tradesman's tools that have the potential to be used as a pointed or edged weapon e.g. drills and drill bits, box cutters, utility knives, all saws, screwdrivers, crowbars, hammers, pliers, wrenches/spanners,
  • Blow torches.
Blunt Instruments

Pointed or bladed articles capable of causing injury, including:

  • Baseball and softball bats
  • Clubs or batons - rigid or flexible - e.g. Billy clubs, blackjacks, night sticks & batons
  • Cricket Bats
  • Golf Clubs
  • Hockey sticks
  • Lacrosse sticks
  • Chisels
  • Kayak and Canoe paddles
  • Skateboards
  • Billiard, snooker and pool cues
  • Fishing rods
  • Martial arts equipment e.g. knuckle dusters, clubs, coshes, rice flails, num chucks, kubatons, kubasaunts

Prohibited items for hold luggage

Explosives and incendiary substances and devices

Explosives and incendiary substances and devices capable of being used to cause serious injury or to pose a threat to the safety of aircraft, including:

  • Ammunition,
  • Blasting caps,
  • Detonators and fuses,
  • Mines, grenades and other explosive military stores,
  • Fireworks and other pyrotechnics,
  • Smoke-generating canisters and smoke-generating cartridges,
  • Dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives.

Cabin Baggage Restriction to the US

Effective Saturday, 25 March, all US bound Guests travelling from Seychelles on Air Seychelles flights will be required to pack their electronic items which are bigger than smart phones in their check in baggage.  Items include – but are not limited to - laptops, tablets, cameras & e-readers. 

This policy is in line with the decision taken by the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA), in consultation with relevant Departments and Agencies, which has determined it is prudent to enhance security, to include airport security procedures for passengers at certain last point of departure airports to the United States. These enhancements include more stringent measures applied to 10 specific airports.

The affected overseas airports are: Queen Alia International Airport (AMM), Cairo International Airport (CAI), Ataturk International Airport (IST), King Abdul-Aziz International Airport (JED), King Khalid International Airport (RUH), Kuwait International Airport (KWI), Mohammed V Airport (CMN), Hamad International Airport (DOH), Dubai International Airport (DXB), and Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH).
