ON A SCENIC FLIGHT

"The route from Seychelles to Europe cuts across the Horn of Africa, flying up the Red Sea. This will give a unique view of the upper reaches of the Rift Valley, with the Ethiopian highlands on the left, and the deserts of Arabia on the right. Towards the top of the Red Sea, on a clear day, the Aswan dam on the Nile may be seen to the left, and the Sinai Peninsula and the Suez Canal, and possibly the Dead Sea, to the right. Over Cairo, there should be a good view of the Pyramids, and the flight leaves the African coastline at Alexandria. Crossing the Mediterranean and the Eastern Edge of Crete, the cradle of ancient Greece, you will have a vista of Greek islands until crossing Athens. Crossing the Adriatic will have a view of the Dalmatian coastline to the right. On the left the toe of Italy may be seen, and beyond, Sicily with a silhouette of Mount Etna. The flight progresses up Italy across Rome and Milan, and the plains of Lombardy to the Swiss Alps and Zurich. From there, across Europe to Paris and thence across the English Channel to London".
