AIR
SEYCHELLES LAUNCHES SECOND NON-STOP FLIGHT FROM LONDON
Victoria — December
05, 2003 — Air Seychelles has today announced
the introduction of its second weekly non-stop service to
Seychelles from London, effective April 2004.
Following the success of Air Seychelles' non-stop
London - Mahé flight, introduced in December 2001, the
decision to change their current via Zurich flight to an additional
non-stop service was taken as a response to increased demand
from tour operators and holidaymakers alike.
News of the move will be especially welcomed by the 109 UK tour operators
currently programming Seychelles as the extra capacity of 122 seats
per week will ensure that they are better able to service the increasing
demand for the destination.
This year alone has seen the opening of three
exclusive properties in Seychelles, namely North Island, Cerf
Island Marine Park Resort and The Wharf Marina Hotel (Mahé),
which is also home to The Moorings' first ever Indian Ocean yacht
chartering base.
This is further complemented by the luxury refurbishments and expansion
of both Alphonse and Desroches islands. Such expansion is set to continue
into 2004 with Le Meridien Fisherman's Cove and Le Northolme Hotel
- both based on Mahé - due to reopen in April and December respectively
following extensive redevelopment and upgrading.
Francis Savy, CEO of Seychelles Tourism Marketing
Authority, commented: "We are delighted that travellers
to Seychelles will benefit from two non-stop overnight departures
as of the 2004 summer season, with both the Friday and Sunday
services ensuring we are just a 10-hour flight away. Furthermore,
with the airline's move to London Heathrow earlier this year
having opened up the destination to a wider UK market, we are
confident that such on-going support will ensure Seychelles'
popularity continues to grow in the months to come, resulting
in higher 2004 visitor arrivals".
