Air Seychelles will introduce a new baggage policy on its domestic network, effective Monday, 1 June, 2020.

The new baggage structure to be implemented for travel between Mahé and Praslin, will now be based on the total weight concept instead of the number of bags being checked-in.

Guests travelling between Mahé and Praslin will now be entitled to 15kg of checked baggage plus an additional 5kg of hand baggage. For infants under 2 years the current allowance of 10kg checked baggage and 5kg of hand baggage will still apply.

All checked baggage must not exceed the maximum size of 75cm x 43cm x 90cm, must be properly packed and labelled as appropriate. Acceptable hand baggage will include either a handbag, laptop bag, slim-line backpack or briefcase. Note that reusable shopping bags, printed plastic bags and oversized open tote bags will not be accepted as checked or hand carried baggage on any flight.

As part of the new baggage policy a flat rate of SCR110 per kilo will also apply on any excess baggage weighing more than 15kg not exceeding more than 32kg. Any checked or oversized baggage exceeding the mandatory weight of 32kg and size limit, will be transported as cargo at an additional cost.

Guests carrying excess baggage more than 32kg are advised to contact the airlines’ cargo department via email at cargocommercial@airseychelles.com or by phoning +248 4391046 or +248 4391311 prior to their flight.

As the airline cannot guarantee that the baggage will arrive in Praslin or Mahé on the same flight, guests will be notified by the guest service agent on duty to collect their baggage at the airport once it arrives at the destination.

The new baggage policy will take effect for tickets issued from Monday, 1 June 2020, therefore guests who have purchased their tickets before that date will still maintain their old baggage allowance as outlined on their tickets.
