Air Seychelles has shown support for St Michel United Football Club by sponsoring ten return tickets to an upcoming away game in an important league fixture in South Africa.

The reigning champions of the Seychelles League are set to take on Mamelodi Sundowns in a return leg of a Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League fixture on Saturday, 28 February.

Each of the St Michel players was presented with an Air Seychelles-branded jersey before their departure from Seychelles International Airport this morning.

Mr Papa said: “We are delighted to support St Michel United’s participation in Africa’s premier football competition. They are a winning team that reflect the spirit of Air Seychelles.

“Air Seychelles promotes healthy lifestyles and we see the benefits of supporting the development of sports and athletics, especially for our younger generation here in the Seychelles.

“As part of this philosophy, we previously worked with Etihad Airways to organise a series of very successful football clinics for aspiring junior players with football legend Patrick Vieira.

“The team at Air Seychelles wishes St Michel United the best of luck in proceeding through this preliminary round of the league; we will all be cheering for them,” Mr Papa said.

Andrew Jean-Louis, Manager of St Michel United FC, said: “I would like to thank Air Seychelles for its valuable support in assisting our club with travel arrangements.

“Our players are very encouraged by the show of support and we are proud that our kit for this fixture will be associated with the airline.

“We secured a 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns earlier in February and will be looking for a win in our upcoming match.”
