Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, and Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, have renewed their sponsorship of the Seychelles International Carnival of Victoria for 2015.

The announcement was made following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Manoj Papa, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles and Sherin Naiken, Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Tourism Board.

As the official airline partners, Air Seychelles and Etihad Airways have sponsored return flight tickets for the event, preferential cargo rates and an excess baggage allowance per passenger, worth a combined value of SCR 5 million.

Mr. Papa said: “Air Seychelles is proud to be associated with the Seychelles Carnival, which is a unique opportunity to celebrate the diversity of Seychellois culture while developing the growth of tourism.

“The Carnival, which attracts hundreds of performers from arts troupes across the world, showcases the beauty of our Indian Ocean home to a global audience. It is perfectly aligned with our goal of promoting tourism in Seychelles and we are delighted to extend our support for 2015.”

James Hogan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways said: “We are happy to sponsor the Seychelles Carnival with Air Seychelles for a second year running, and look forward to bringing journalists and participants to the archipelago for the celebrations.”

Ms Naiken said: “We are thrilled to extend our strong relationship with Air Seychelles and Etihad Airways, whose support is vital for the success of the carnival. Now a firmly-established national event, it features a diverse range of floats and a strong international media representation that spreads the message of Seychelles to the world.”
