Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, has invested in a Mallaghan ML6100D Medical Lift to improve the travel experience for guests with reduced mobility. Also known as an ambulift, the vehicle arrived on the island of Mahé on Friday, 18 August.

The ambulift is fitted with a cabin that can be raised up to six metres off the ground to reach the doors of aircraft such as the Airbus A330, allowing passengers in wheelchairs or on stretchers to embark or disembark quickly and safely.

Roy Kinnear, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, said: “With this state-of-the-art ambulift, Air Seychelles will be able to provide guests with restricted mobility floor-to-door access to our aircraft, making boarding or exiting aircraft more comfortable.

“We are always looking at ways to use new technology in a way that will contribute to the future development of Air Seychelles and enhance the experience for our guests, and the Mallaghan medical lift ticks all these boxes.

“This is another example of the continued capital investment which Air Seychelles is investing in to improve the standards of equipment in use at the Seychelles International Airport.”

Vania Larue, Head of Ground Services at Air Seychelles, said: “The ambulift is a great addition to our ground services equipment that will benefit all guests who cannot use the stairs to enter or exit the aircraft.

“In addition to being extremely safe, it is also more operationally efficient, which will enable us ensure quick turnaround times for our aircraft and guests.”
