Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, is today celebrating five years of non-stop service between India and Seychelles.

Launched as a three per week service in December 2014, to date the Seychelles flag carrier currently operates six weekly flights to India’s financial capital apart from having transported more than 900tons of cargo over the same period between the two countries.

Speaking on this historic milestone during an event held in Mumbai attended by travel trade partners and media representatives, Chief Executive Officer, Remco Althuis said:

India is one of Air Seychelles top market and over the years the national airline has grown its presence within the destination substantially, moving from three to six flights per week, in addition to offering domestic services to eight cities in India with the support of Air India as codeshare partner. In fact, today, Air Seychelles is also celebrating one year of successful codeshare partnership with India’s flag carrier, Air India. The continuous support received throughout the one year of alliance has enabled both airline to increase inbound and outbound tourism across their network, besides gaining great visibility plus marketing opportunities. The collective efforts of all stakeholders across our network is also important in the success of any route and the occasion today also serves as a moment to express our gratitude to all our partners in India as well as our guests for their loyalty over the years of service. Air Seychelles remains committed in providing more choice and unparalleled service to both its passengers as well as cargo suppliers to and from India. As proof of our commitment to further support our network growth plans, in 2020, during the peak summer months, Air Seychelles will increase its services to India from six flights per week to daily thus providing holidaymakers and business travellers more choice when planning their travel during the peak seasons.”

Between December 2014 until November 2019, Air Seychelles has carried over 500,000 passengers between Mumbai and Seychelles. The six weekly service between Mumbai and Seychelles is currently being operated by the airline new Airbus A320neo aircraft consisting of 12 Business Class and 156 Economy Class seats.

Beyond Mumbai, together with codeshare partner Air India, the airline also offers domestic services to eight cities including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Kochi, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Trivandrum as well as international services between Mumbai and Bangkok.
