Air Seychelles marks International Women's Day with all female operation

Air Seychelles today conducted an all-female operation at the Seychelles International Airport to mark International Women’s Day which was celebrated yesterday.

Upon arrival at the airport on Saturday, 9 March 2019, guests was welcomed by a group of female Guest Service Agents at the check-in counters prior to proceeding to the departure lounge where they were later attended by a group of dedicated ladies during the boarding process.

To ensure that the aircraft operate safely amongst those working on the ramp were Aircraft Engineer, Clyny De Letourdie and Aircraft Technician, Rebecca Morel who conducted the arrival and pre-departure check of the airline’s Airbus A320 aircraft Amirantes (S7-AMI), whilst Turnaround Supervisor Sophia Abel who was on duty ensured the special all-female flight between Seychelles and Mauritius was ready to depart on time.

Under the command of Captain Nicole Changleng together with First Officer Keryn Confiance flight HM049 departed Seychelles at 10.30am. The guests were looked after by Cabin Manager Joanne Auguste, Cabin Senior Carole Agathine including Flight Attendants, Charlotte Morel and Sylvanne Solange.

First Officer Keryn Confiance said: “This year I will celebrate 13 years of service with the national airline and I am pleased that throughout my career as a woman pilot I have received similar opportunities as the male pilots.

“Such achievements has been possible through the commitment of the airline in attracting and developing both male and female Seychellois talent to ensure Air Seychelles has a gender-balanced workforce”.

Remco Althuis, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles said: “The women at Air Seychelles have always formed part of the airline’s success story and today is the perfect occasion to recognize all the female colleagues across the entire business for their devotion and commitment towards the airline.

“I also want to use this opportunity to inspire and empower the young ladies thinking of their future plans to continue to break barriers in aviation by opting for male dominated careers such as engineering and pilot to further show that women working in aviation can definitely fly high.”
