Air Seychelles celebrates international flight attendants day
Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles is today celebrating the hard work and dedication of its Flight Attendants.
Apart from organizing an event to mark this special occasion internally, Head of Cabin Operations, Francisca Moonsammy, the responsible for the flight attendants portfolio at Air Seychelles said: “The Air Seychelles flight attendants, is a team of ambassadors for both the national airline and the Seychelles as they are the first people that our guests interacts with when travelling to our beautiful island.
“Besides delivering the service on board the aircraft, the flight attendants are also in-flight safety professionals as they are trained to handle diverse challenging situations such as medical emergencies, disruptive passengers, on board fires, evacuations and more.
“I would like to thank this amazing group of flight attendants at Air Seychelles for their continued hard work and dedication and for leaving with our guest an indelible legacy of service delivered with unique creole warmth.”
To be a certified flight attendant one has to successfully complete a rigorous safety and service training composed of both theory and practical sessions.
Conducted over six weeks, the training provide skills and knowledge in areas of safety, including how to manage in-flight emergencies, evacuation procedures, handling of dangerous goods items, aircraft equipment as well as the importance of aviation health and security to ensure the aircraft and its passengers remain safe at all times.
Held in several stages, the flight attendant will need to complete each phase of the training successfully to move forward besides undergoing a thorough medical examination at the end to be established fit for the role.
To keep abreast with the continuous development in the aviation industry, to remain compliant to the rules and regulations, flight attendants also undergoes yearly re-current training.
Marking her 21 years of service as a flight attendant, Hillary Volcere, Cabin Manager at Air Seychelles said: “Looking back at the years of service with the national airline, I can proudly say that I have made a very good career choice.
“It was tough at the beginning when I started the job as my ultimate goal was to achieve the rank of Cabin Manager which required plenty of sacrifices especially when maintaining the work and family life balance.
“The good rapport established with my colleagues at work and the strong team spirit has been the main driver that has kept me going in my role and being one of the most senior staff within the crew community, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all my colleagues for flying the national airline with great pride and for always ensuring that safety remains our number one priority. Well done team!”
To date, Air Seychelles employs a total of 52 Flight Attendants comprising of 13 Cabin Manager, 13 Cabin Senior and 26 Flight Attendants
