Air Seychelles CEO delivers speech to Unisey students on career opportunities with the national airline
Air Seychelles Chief Executive Officer, Roy Kinnear, today delivered a speech about the success of the national airline of Seychelles and inspiring wide range of opportunities available to University of Seychelles (UniSey) future graduates.
In the lecture, which was attended by more than 150 students, Roy Kinnear spoke about the Mahé-based carrier’s history, operations and the positive transformation achieved to date, focusing on the career opportunities and a multitude of skill sets required in operating an airline, such as: finance, IT, sales, marketing, communications, HR, engineering, cabin crew, ground services, etc.
The talk also covered recent developments introduced to strengthen the business, including the latest key milestones, the launch of flights to Beijing and introduction of the modern Sabre technology platform.
Mr Kinnear said: “Air Seychelles has been in the aviation business for nearly 40 years and we are pleased to inspire the UniSey students by sharing our experience and turnaround story, hoping that we will steer their interest in developing careers with the national airline.
“Aviation is the lifeblood of the country’s economy and we place a strong focus on succession planning and investing in the future by bringing on-board talented young Seychellois.
“During the discussion with students, I wanted to help them understand that there are other than obvious front facing positions such as check in, pilots and cabin crew, also available in aviation industry and that they can plan and develop their careers with their national airline.
“Air Seychelles is a great place to work and we look forward to hearing from UniSey students about their interest in joining our team upon graduation.”
The lecture was organised under a Memorandum of Understanding between Air Seychelles and UniSey that is aimed at providing aviation training and job opportunities for students.
As part of this agreement, the national airline organised an educational tour of Etihad Airways for 23 UniSey students last month, which provided the group with an inside-look into different business areas of the Abu Dhabi-based airline, including cabin crew training and flight operations.
Mr Kinnear continued “Air Seychelles has established a strong relationship with the University of Seychelles and its students are clearly interested in our airline and the aviation industry.
“To take this further we are planning to offer UniSey students internships for the coming summer period that will provide fantastic work experience and a chance to gain a deeper understanding of the topics we covered in this lecture.”
