Book your flights to Praslin with Air Seychelles and you can enjoy an unforgettable 15-minute flight offering bird’s-eye views of the Indian Ocean. Situated 45km northeast of Mahé, the second-largest island in the archipelago has all the temptations of its bigger brother – plus a few unique gems of its own.

What to do in Praslin?

Visit the amazing world heritage Vallée de Mai, a real slice of Eden known to have the vestiges of a natural palm forest preserved in almost its original state. The famous coco de mer seed, from a palm-tree once believed to grow in the depths of the sea is the largest seed in the plant kingdom.

Renowned for its stunning white world famous beaches, Praslin has lush tropical forests covering the hills, a championship golf course and exotic plants. From Praslin, you can take a day trip and explore the amazing sea birds on Cousine Island, meet giant tortoises in the wild on Curieuse, or go swimming or scuba diving around St Pierre or any one of the fantastic dive sites around the island.

Spend a day on a pedal boat or sea kayaking in turquoise waters with phenomenal views of the colourful sea creatures and discover small hidden coves around Praslin.

Attractions on Praslin

Praslin has its fair share of stylish five-star resorts, cosy guesthouses, fantastic restaurants and nice beaches, but two of its attractions stand out in particular. One is Anse Lazio beach, which you’ll recognise from the many magazine covers and brochures that it has graced. Lapped by inviting blue waters, bookended by granitic boulders and surrounded by palm and takamaka trees, it is routinely hailed as one of the best beaches in the world.

Number two on the list is the Vallée de Mai, a World Heritage-listed palm forest. This is the famous home of the coco de mer, a large, suggestively-shaped nut that has become an iconic symbol of the Seychelles. The park offers five trails to explore as well as a guided tour where you can learn about the distinctive flora and fauna that grows here. If you’re lucky, the park guide will stop and beckon your gaze towards the canopy, pointing out birdlife such as the Seychelles bulbul, a rare blue pigeon or the ever-elusive black parrot.

Take a day trip to nearby secluded islands like Curieuse, Aride, Coco, Sister, Felicité, St. Pierre, Cousin, Cousine and Chauvre Souris.
