The launch of the radio competition took place on Friday, 14 September 2018 at the Hilton Labriz Lounge in Bel Ombre.

The cocktail event hosted by the Hilton Hotels saw the participation of all corporate partners to the project that is Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa, Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa, Air Seychelles, Seychelles Breweries, CocoBlu Restaurant and the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB).

The #ilovekradioSeychelles competition was kicked off through a special link on K-Radio and live on social media. K-Radio presenter Sylvie Ah-Time introduced the project as a means for the listeners to go back in time.

She invited listeners from Seychelles and around the world to participate by sending a postcard containing #ilovekradioSeychelles from their respective cities or countries including Seychelles via the post office to the K-radio office in Seychelles.

The game is open until Saturday 27th October 2018 and all postcards should be sent before the deadline in order to go into the draw bag.

The draw will be conducted live on K-Radio at the CocoBlu Restaurant in Victoria.  The winner either a local participant or one from abroad will be contacted live on K-radio.

During his speech to the guests at the event, the General Manager for Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa, Mr. Andre Borg said that Hilton Seychelles took this collaboration opportunity with K-Radio to give back to the community. Both hotels had taken the initiative to have the children from President’s Village orphanage painting postcards that can be sold to guests for either their personal use or to enter the competition. Both Hilton hotels will then send the purchased postcards on the guests’ behalf to K-Radio if they choose to.

Air Seychelles K Radio Campaign

All proceeds will go directly towards the building of a Library for the President’s Village children to contribute to their education.

The new Air Seychelles Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Remco Althuis said: “Air Seychelles is very happy to participate in the competition with K-Radio as this is another great initiative to boost our additional frequency to Johannesburg and to also gear up for the airline’s 40th anniversary celebrations which will coincide with the day of the draw.”

Mrs. Sherin Francis, STB Chief Executive expressed her satisfaction for STB to be collaborating with K-radio on this initiative, “STB did not have a minute of hesitation with assisting on the #ilovekradioSeychelles project. It is a great initiative as it gets more people abroad to listen to K-Radio, which indirectly gives more visibility to the destination, “Said Mrs. Francis.

The #ilovekradioSeychelles game show will run for 6 weeks on the 97.2 airwaves. The 7-month-old Seychelles based radio station mentioned that the current success of the #ilovekradioSeychelles is promising for a 2019 edition of the game show.
