Chartering an aircraft has become the best way for sports professionals travelling from one destination to another, without the long wait at commercial airports during this pandemic.

With some of the major sporting events lined up in 2021, Air Seychelles continues to be the preferred airline for teams to charter across the Indian Ocean and Africa.

Between 3 and 8 September 2021, the Seychelles flag carrier operated a series of charter flights carrying the Namibian, Ghanaian and Madagascar national football teams at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifier games.

The flights which arrived in Johannesburg, Lomé, Accra, Antananarivo and Dar es Salaam respectively, were conducted in a safe and timely manner by the airline’s international fleet of A320neo aircraft equipped with 168 seats.

Being highly responsive to the unique demands sports charters bring, it is clear that organisers across the globe trust Air Seychelles in delivering their teams safely to their destination.

Charles Johnson, Air Seychelles Chief Commercial Officer said: "Over the past year, Air Seychelles has built a reputation based on flexibility, reliability and safety – all key attributes sports teams look for when chartering flights. We’ve been proud to fly teams all over Africa, the sub-continent, Asia and Australia. This further solidifies our niche status as the official airline for sports charters everywhere.”

In addition to football teams, Air Seychelles has also operated several charter flights for cricket teams. The airline recently carried members from the Australian Indian Premier Cricket League to Sydney, in addition to flying the South African national cricket team to Pakistan and back home for their test match series.
