The African qualifying competition for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM has resumed with matches starting from 6 October 2021 across the continent.
Being highly responsive to the unique demands sports charters bring, Air Seychelles yesterday had the chance to operate a special charter flight from Madagascar, carrying the islands national football team to the Democratic Republic of the Congo for their upcoming qualifiers match.
The team of 33 footballers accompanied by the Madagascar Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr. Hawel Mamod Ali, departed Ivato International Airport at 6.50pm and landed successfully at the Ndjili International Airport in Kinshasa at 11pm.
The 5 hour flight operated by Captain Vincent Carlier and First Officer Ashley Confait were also supported by Cabin Manager Jacqueline Confiance, Cabin Senior Tessy Philoe and Carol Agathine, including Flight Attendant Christopher Dogley.
Sandy Benoiton, Air Seychelles Acting Chief Executive explained: “Having operated this charter flight for the Malagasy national football team does not only show the agility of the Air Seychelles team in realising charter request effectively, but it also demonstrates the trust Air Seychelles continues to build with partners across the globe, in delivering excellence in service and execution, based on flexibility, reliability and safety.”
The Madagascar football team will play against the Democratic Republic of Congo football team on 7 October, 2021. The returning flight to Madagascar set on the same day will depart the Democratic Republic of the Congo late in the evening.
Between 3 and 8 September 2021, the Seychelles A320neo jetliners have also operated flights carrying the Namibian and Ghanaian national football teams at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifier games.
