If you’re looking for things to do in the Seychelles that are perfect for those holiday photo albums, there are many things to see that you won’t likely experience in other places. Make sure to try and incorporate some of these incredible sights into your getaway itinerary.

Secret waterfalls

No visit to the Seychelles is complete without a visit to an awe-inspiring waterfall. Perfect for a romantic day out or to simply witness nature in all its splendour, you’ll want to add a stop at one of the breath-taking waterfalls in the Seychelles.

As far as waterfalls go, you’ll struggle to find one as beautiful as the Port Launay waterfall on Mahé. Join a small group and visit this site for some unbelievable photos and crisp, refreshing water! This waterfall has it all – the perfect combination of water, glacis and vegetation.

Equally as stunning is the Grand Anse Mahé waterfall. Known for its cascading glacis, this waterfall will invite you in from the moment you set eyes on it. While accessing this wonder is quite a feat, the view and experience make it worthwhile.

Last but certainly not least is the Vallée de Mai waterfall on Praslin. While the other contenders all cascade downhill, this is the only one that plunges. Swimming in this waterfall is not advised as the water drops into a bed of slippery rocks, but the extraordinary sight still makes it worth the trip.

Snorkelling in the Seychelles

One of the many reasons why millions of tourists visit the Seychelles is the sensational snorkelling. With an abundance of pristine white sandy beaches and snorkelling areas to choose from, you’re bound to have an incredible snorkelling experience wherever you go. But just in case you want to plan your snorkelling expeditions ahead of time, here are some of the best places to explore.

St Anne Marine National Park

A mere 20 minute trip from Mahé island, this is one of the oldest snorkelling destinations in the entire Indian Ocean. The park consists of six islands, so it boasts a variety of marine life. From hawksbill turtles to bottlenose dolphins, you’re sure to witness something memorable when snorkelling here.

The Vista Bay Rocks

This snorkelling destination can be found towards the end of Beau Vallon Bay. What makes it unique is the wide variety of coral reefs and granite, making it the ideal spot to see exotic marine life like lobsters and moray eels.

Curieuse Island

Curieuse Island is a treat for any snorkelling enthusiast. Located only 2 km from Praslin, this site is known for unbelievable granite formations and appearances by rare species like hump head parrot fish. While on the island, you can also see the grand coco de mer seed, known for its sheer size.

While the Seychelles is home to many exotic species that you’ve likely never seen before, one of the most spectacular is the Aldabra Giant Tortoise. You can only see them in one other place on earth – the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. When visiting the Seychelles, ensure that this beauty makes its way onto your itinerary. They truly are something to behold, with a lifespan of between 80 and 120 years, and bodies that can grow up to 1.3m long and weigh a staggering 400 kg, you simply must witness these creatures in all their glory.

Visit Aldabra in the Seychelles where these majestic animals are conserved due to the area’s World Heritage Site status. This is an experience you’ll never forget, and you’re sure to walk away with photographs that will conjure happy memories for as long as you have them.
