Air Seychelles and the Seychelles Tourism Board have teamed up to support the filming of Rocky Handsome, a Bollywood action thriller that features scenes shot on location in Seychelles.

Set for release in October 2015, Rocky Handsome tells the story of a man who seeks revenge after his daughter is kidnapped.

The film’s lead actors, John Abraham and Shruti Hassan, and production crew arrived in Seychelles this morning onboard Air Seychelles’ flight HM 261 from Mumbai.

During their stay the crew will shoot scenes, including a three-minute song scene, featuring the lead actors on honeymoon in Seychelles.

Manoj Papa, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, said: “We are delighted to support the production of Rocky Handsome by flying the crew and filming equipment to Seychelles.

“The film will be released in more than 2,200 cinemas in India, enhancing our brand presence and supporting the strong growth of business and leisure traffic on our Mumbai service.”

Sherin Naiken, Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Tourism Board, said: “The Seychelles archipelago has some of the most scenic island backdrops in the world, and we are thrilled that it will be featured in Rocky Handsome.

“This film, which has two of the biggest names in contemporary Bollywood cinema, will bring enormous exposure to the destination and enhance its reputation as an excellent filming location.

“It will also support the strong marketing efforts of STB and Air Seychelles in the Indian market, which have resulted in record growth in the number of tourism arrivals from India in 2015.”

Rocky Handsome is being produced by Azure Entertainment, an independent content development, production and financing company set up in 2012, which focuses on filmed entertainment in Hindi and other regional Indian languages.

Air Seychelles launched services to Mumbai in December 2014 with an Airbus A320 aircraft in a two-class configuration, offering 16 business class seats and 120 economy class seats.
