Cargo Clearing officer

• Clear goods imported by air and sea on behalf of respective divisions within Air Seychelles.

• Collect documents from the Service Delivery Office at the Cargo Terminal or Shipping Agents in Victoria once notified of the arrival of a cargo consignment.

• Notify intended recipient of arrival of consignment. Collect the relevant documents, i.e. invoices.

• Complete “Bill of Entry” and submit to Trades Tax for processing.

• Negotiate with Trade Tax Imports for quick release of consignments urgently required, e.g. for aircraft

maintenance, or for other justifiable reasons.

• Deliver goods to intended recipients.

• Provide training to others as required.

• Assist the FedEx Team to complete Bill Of Entry for small packages.

• Monitor status of shipments in the Asycuda system constantly to ensure timely delivery.

• Identify and report safety and security-related occurrences and hazards in accordance with company procedures and local regulations.

• Assist with customs verification for clearance and exportation process.

• Execute filing of customs entries and post-entry work/transactions.

Our preferred profile:

  • IGCSE/O’ Level qualification*
  • 1 to 2 years’ work experience, preferably in a related/similar role*
  • Airline industry experience an added asset
  • Hold a driving license class 2
  • Good computer literacy with competent application of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good time management- Ability to manage multiple tasks and short lead times
  • Customer service oriented
  • Ability to work competently under pressure
  • Ability to work efficiently under limited supervision
